It felt balmy...
It felt so balmy and warm and uplifting of spirits with it being brighter in the morning on the way to work.

Light on bare trees
The light on the tree across the road from the apartment building caught my eye and then I went on to look at the other bare branches in the park and down the side streets.

Golden light
I couldn't resist the lovely golden early morning light in Crotona Park.
This park has been open in the Bronx for more than 100 years, and today, it’s a popular destination for naturalists, boasting 28 different tree species as well as a 3.3 acre lake home to turtles, ducks, and fish. It’s also home to the only swimming pool built in the Bronx by the Works Progress Administration, which is also the borough's largest.

The Crotona Play Center, which holds the pool, may also appeal to architecture buffs: the Art Deco building was constructed under the WPA and features a monumental arched brick entryway, two towers topped with skylights and an interior courtyard. It was landmarked in 2007.

Inside & out
We bought the chrysanthemum over the weekend away and it now sits on our window sill bringing the autumnal tints inside the apartment.

Custodian duties
The school custodians have to keep the footpaths clear so when it snows they have a huge chore and in the fall the clearing of leaves is their duty too

The other side of the street
The sun shone on a glorious Sunday, warm and balmy and lovely. The light on the street gave the streetscape a lovely glow.

Summer stoop
The stoop, it's a great opportunity for a little gardening. A few pots — flowers, herbs or even vegetables — can give the most basic set of stairs great curb appeal.
Stoop planters are a great way to add green when you don't have any outdoor space. One on each side of the door helps define the entry: pots on each step provide a lush look and abundant greenery.
So recovering from jet lag and getting to work and managing my challenges of a photo a day and documented life and blog!

Saturated
"Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
... All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
Even the bikers sought the shade
