Traveling to Crocodile Camp

An early breakfast
After our night in Khama Rhino Sanctuary/Camp near Serowe, Botswana. It was established in 1993 after the Ngwato Land Board gave the land around the Serwe Pan to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary Trust. We enjoyed breakfast amongst the bird life..

Yellow Horn bill or "flying banana"

Francolin and Yellow Hornbill
Having fortified ourselves we headed off on a game drive through the reserve and saw impala, warthogs, zebra.... and rhino were also seen.

Wildebeest

Saw the back end of many an animal

she looked right at me

Red headed weaver bird

We stopped they appeared

This time we stopped where they were

Some housing along the way

Ostrich as as hard to photograph on the run as are emus.

we stopped to stretch our legs- he was fishing in the river with his mates.

Information from the advertising for Croc Camp says "Crocodile Camp is a 12km drive from the small town of Maun towards the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. Situated on the banks of the Thamalakane river, Croc Camp hosts an abundance of bird life with the occasional hippo or crocodile visitor, all of which can be viewed while enjoying spectacular sunsets from the bar deck."

Can you see the water at the edge of the trees?

Early starts the order of the day for much of our safari life.
A long day in the Big Red Truck but got to see some wildlife at the end.
The long road into Botswana

Cattle and goats and donkeys everywhere

The Big Red Truck our mode of transport for much of the time

Capturing the local housing was not easy in a fast moving in truck

How impractical?!

One doesn't wish to complain about another's choice of furnishings although if one is renting accommodation then perhaps one has the "right" to be a little picky. However there chairs in this apartment/room where I'm currently staying in the Virgin Islands are terribly impractical.
This first chair (of which there are three) is at the bench-How are you supposed to fit your legs under the bench? Even when one uses the cushions as a back rest and sits on the rather uncomfortable cane seat one's legs still won't fit comfortably. Perhaps it's a diet plan? Or perhaps the bench was made too low?

This second one is a puzzle as to how to sit on it. One must sit astride the corner which is fine but the arms are not for resting and they get in the way if one is trying to do anything while sitting at the table.

The furnishings in this particular room are not all that suited to my work needs but then I guess they didn't furnish the place with a view to working but rather to relaxing.

They've moved into the 21st century!

I know it is a really bad photo but finally some airlines have moved into the 21st century with their signs on aircraft. We all know you're not allowed to smoke and that smoke detectors are in the bathrooms so we don't really need the reminder about no smoking (not that anyone should be smoking at all).
On the aircraft on this particular flight they have signs for turning off electronic devices!

Tony

The gift of sympathy from AUSSIE
He has been there all my life and is no longer. My big brother Tony died suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday 22 March at home in Perth Australia.
He was only 65- we are all still coming to terms with the shock of it all.
Time will help me to find ways to  acknowledge all that he was to me and our family. I know we'll miss his "big brother" taking care of us attitude and actions; his capacity to laugh at himself; his dedication to his family- kids and grandkids; his love of the sea; his preparedness to get in there and sort out problems; his grandiose statements of absolutes.
He was a good big brother to us all.
