Looking up

There is looking up from our spot on the roof having drinks

 Then there is looking down

 And looking and pointing up

And then there is...

Looking forward through your telescope

And looking off to the right through your telescope

A shrimp on a barbie...

... this is so NOT an Australian expression. It's all Paul Hogan and the Australian Tourist Commission's fault.

But when traveling during my last trip home I did see some of our indigenous animals and some of  these roos seemed to be saying... "did you say throw a shrimp on the barbie?"

School Daze

School really begins for me in September so a calendar is essential
The other essential is a notebook- for the past few years i have been creating books using snapfish and my travel photos. Helps stay focused on what i want to do in my free time- ie photography and travel!

Don't Blink

Living in NYC there are always sounds and sights that one could easily miss if you always have your ear buds in and your own personal sound track or you BLINK (sometimes that might be a good thing).
On my walk home the other evening I felt if I blinked I'd be back in Buenos Aires- these two guys looked so Argentinian. Instead of blink I took a quick snap on the phone hence the out of focus nature of the shot :)

On my walk with Louise on Wednesday again in the blink of an eye we were past this spot but i went back and took the back end of one of the horses that perhaps was destined to be a carriage horse.

Grow

This is possibly one of the "lesser" camelia bushes/trees in Bridie's new garden one thing she didn't want to grow in her garden were camelias. Ah well she will begin to know and love them better methinks.

Coffee, tea or me

Gotta love a coffee and lamington

Or perhaps a cuppa and a whacking great biscuit

Or just an earful from me!

Slim pickin's

It was a real struggle to think of something that happens or that I have seen that prompted the thought of "slim pickin's". Perhaps it was because there were slim pickin's in our garden in Aireys that the King Parrots that came into our garden stayed such a short time.

Sweet , sour or sassy

This was a hard one to do and actually there is no sour in this photo but lots of sweet and sassy.

Additional note thanks to Michele- the sour note is not seeing them more :(

Don't bug me!?!

Sitting in my lounge room catching up on reading and quiet contemplation I could hear what sounded like some sort of rhythmic activity. Having gone onto the balcony to investigate I expected to find some type of dance group doing their thing in Fire Fighters Park but no there were only people sitting eating or sleeping.
Then I noticed in the back alley behind the buildings on 48th and 49th two people. I grabbed my camera avec zoom lens to get a closer look/shot.

I had to wait ages before he began swinging punches again. He was being coached/ training. i imagined him saying as he swung each punch "Don't bug me!"

Clearly!

I was lucky, Michele made sure that the celebratory dinner was held when I was home-and I was invited.
The evening was a delightful dinner and speeches and conversation.
Clearly she is valued for her intellect and care of mothers and babies.
Clearly she is treasured as a colleague and friend.
Clearly she is going to missed on a day to day basis.
Clearly they know and love her.
Clearly I am truly proud and happy for my sister and her achievements.

Arrow to my heart

An arrow through a heart means that Cupid has pierced your heart, which means that you have fallen in love.

But then the challenge said an arrow "to" so was this to be something that caused pain?

On the day before I headed back to NYC I visited the gorgeous niece and the delightful "boy".
he was soooo sick just sleeping the whole time none of the great gusto in evidence. :(

Get to the point

Getting to the point was our goal!
The fence line at Aireys has been an issue since the new tenants moved in next door and we have had a surveyor establish the fence line and had marked the line with pegs.
However the neighbours drove tucks in and over the pegs so that they were difficult to find.
Michele was on a mission and we set out armed with a surveyors plan of the block and a garden fork.
Fortunately our "fencing" neighbour arrived home early and was delighted to assist in the hunt for the "offical" pegs.

The first peg was found and we were able to figure out the point at which our drive way access started. A star picket now marks the spot and is painted white thanks to our helpful neighbour.

Frame

To roll over in the morning and framed by the window are the gum tree tops in our yard in Aireys Inlet.

The windows of the house frame the garden and the wildlife there beautifully.

Bloom where you are planted

The day began late and we were heading out to Medhurst Winery picking up Karen on the way to celebrate Gerry's birthday.
In the block opposite Karen's place was a trampoline "blooming where it was planted"!
The glorious sunshine helped us gain a bloom in our cheeks- or perhaps it was the wine or the great food or the great company

The food and wine tasting and sunshine continued for hours!
Some blooms at the winery

Some birthday blooms for the birthday girl

A blooming great vista

Vines ready to bloom in a wine barrel

Even the bloomin' floor mops had a barrel!

Shadow Dancing

On my way to the library I checked what the word/concept for the day was- perfect- it was sunny so an opportunity was there to get myself walking along beside the school the bag is full of books to return to the library.

Gobbledygook!

gobbledegook, gobbledygook [ˈgɒbəldɪˌguːk]n pretentious or unintelligible jargon, such as that used by officials

Perfect timing! We are in the midst of a Federal Election campaign and the media is full of political commentary and views- what better way to represent gobbledegook than a photo of a page of the newspaper backwards- it is just as intelligible that way!
