We headed out early to travel to Bear Mountain. One thing we didn't know was that there was a tornado warning out. We just thought it was going to rain a bit!
We were walking around the lake with great opportunities to take some photos and it started to rain.
The water in the lake was incredibly clear |
We managed to dry off to a certain extent and headed into Nyack and while we were waiting for a table at The Art Cafe we heard that there was a tornado warning for all five boroughs. Phone calls home to check that others could "secure our home fires". We were safe but the news report....
An EF0 tornado made landfall in the Breezy Point
section of the Rockaway peninsula in Queens at approximately 11 a.m.,
according to the National Weather Service. The 70 mile per hour winds
hurled sand and debris in the air, downed multiple trees and power
lines, moved cars and damaged property.
About five minutes later, an EF1
tornado touched down in Canarsie, Brooklyn, the National Weather Service
confirmed. The 110 mile per hour winds leveled trees and power lines
and damaged homes.
I just liked this tree's shape |
The library in Nyack |
