The ice did cometh

How many days later and there is still mounds of snow
We had heard of ice storms and had seen the effects of them on our trip along Route 66. Trees broken in half snapped under the weight of the ice. And so we didn't know what to expect or how bad it might be when the predicted ice showers and storm arrived.
The mayor didn't declare an ice day so it was off to work. It was so treacherous walking to and from the subway. Especially the part in the Bronx, up hill- first tim in my life (and hopefully last time too0 that i have "skated" up hill.
The footpaths outside the school were like an ice rink. Three kids arrived in having fallen over as well as a teacher and that was during the time I was waiting.
Each little twig is covered in ice

The journey home was through melting ice this time no so much on the footpath but from the trees. Each little twig on the trees was coated in ice and it was melting making if "rain" as yu walked under the trees. A bit hard to photograph with my iphone but I tried.
