Blogtoberfest #27 A celebration

November is going to be a big month for celebrations and they have started already. The party was for Fran's 60th. How lucky was I to be home here and be able to join in the celebration. About one hundred people gathered at the Malmsbury Hotel where we had a great dinner and then music of Fran's era- my era- with dancing and chatting and celebrating the wonderful person that Fran is.
I am so lucky to be able to say that she is one of my best friends and has been for such a long time.

She used the lyrics of Carole King's Tapestry to talk about her life and her friendships.

My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue
An everlasting vision of the everchanging view
A wondrous woven magic in bits of blue and gold
A tapestry to feel and see, impossible to hold

Such a wonderful attitude to have in a person who has had really tough times. The gathering was a tribute to her friendship and parenting. Four of the five kids were there- Annemarie made a lovely and loving speech, a friend Jenny made another speech and Fran acknowledged her friends that were there and absent. Her mum was not able to be there. The friends ranged from "kids" she went to school with, teachers' college and early teaching career friends, friends from pony club, from work, and from life changes. It was a lovely way to celebrate her.
I'm so glad I was able to be there given that I would have more likely have been in USVI but visa issues have meant I was able to celebrate with her now and then I can also celebrate with her at Christmas when she comes over to stay.
