A drive by photo that sums it all up |
How does one demonstrate what a great day we had? Flew out of NYC early-ish and via Charlotte NC to Memphis TN.
Collected a hire car and using the trusty GPS (a gift a few years ago from Anne Marie and Barry) we found our way into the heart of the city and our place to stay, the Peabody Hotel.
We only paused long enough to check in, unpack and head out to Graceland. A bit of a drive around down to the Mississippi River and along the highway to Elvis territory.

Sue and I have been here before but still enjoy going through the house and revisiting all the "history" of the music and philanthropy that was Elvis' life.

I was able to put my photography class lessons into practice in getting the above photo- the depth of field class helped me work it all out.

Listening and looking |
While the others were looking at stuff, I did too but also mucked around with my camera- fun!
After our trip to Graceland we headed back to the hotel in time for the Duck Parade back to the Duck Palace and then a bit of a relax in the lobby area with a glass of wine. Another group of friends came to Memphis too and we met up with them.
We met some great women from Cleveland TN who regaled us with stories of this to see and do in Tennessee. They headed off for dinner, we did too.
It is only a short walk to Beale Street. The problem with taking photos, with the camera set on manual and not using a flash, is that the photos either end up all fuzzy and/or have that red/orange light. My solution has been to make them black and white and they look a tad better.
Just a couple of shots of our night listening to the blues.
