Wonder. How did you cultivate a sense of wonder in your life this year? (Author: Jeffrey Davis)
My efforts to cultivate that sense of wonder was through a number of things. I really love taking photos (statement of the bleedin' obvious!) and through that I've managed to capture some of that wonder. It's prompted me to stop and look at things, or stop and savour the moment or just to stop. Here are some of the things I've managed to capture in my sense of wonder with/in the world.
I am lucky enough to be able to travel and to savour the beauty of different parts of the US...
Our trip to Monument Valley was a joy both the journey and the sights.
Stopping to savour the beauty around me... on the journey back home to Australia part of the work I did took me to a school that had at 15 of these glorious river gums in the school grounds. Hundreds of years old and protected and enhanced in this school ground.
One of the great beauties and wonders of each day is the changing light and how it is seen from our apartment windows...
In autumn the colours are fantastic and change by the minute
Our journey along the canals in France provided glorious views both on the water...
And along the banks...
Joigny in the late afternoon
Living in NYC holds endless opportunities to savour the wonder contained in its galleries. And then our travel has expanded the galleries and art works we can experience. L'Orangerie in Paris with Monet's beautiful Water Lilies
Our journeys took us to ports where beauty abounds.. Catherine's Palace, St Petersburg
Stopping and trying to capture the moment meant I saw and didn't drive over the kangaroos in the fog near Fran's place! The kangaroos were moving fast but I managed to capture them through the fog from the other side of the road.
I didn't participate in this wondrous event but I tried to stay in Australia long enough to be close to the wonderful event- Dylan had other ideas but through photos, phone calls and technology I continue to share in the wonder that is Bridie and Sean's son, my great nephew Dylan Thomas Kannegiesser. The gorgeous Bridie and Dylan
